The Yobe State Government has put up sesame clearing and packaging industries in Machina, Nguru, Potiskum and Damaturu LGAs for quality and production of valuable seeds.
The state’s Deputy Governor, Hon Idi Barde Gubana, who made this revelation in an interview with newsmen held at his office in the government house, Damaturu, said the move would foster development across the state.
He said the industries were established given the reality that out of the seventeen local governments of Yobe state, the state is among those that is leading in the production of sesame; they wanted the production carried out in a more productive way to foster increased economic activities throughout the state.
The construction of the industries, according to Gubana was necessitated by this development after some companies in Europe and the Middle East signalled their interest in engaging in international sesame seeds trade.
He further stated it observed that the administration of the Governor Mai Mala Buni had revived four out of the seven state-owned industries to generate employment opportunities as well as increase the revenue of the state.
