Renowned Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Kanayo O Kanayo, has expressed his disappointment and frustration with individuals who show a lack of gratitude when receiving financial assistance.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Monday, Kanayo criticised the common response of “seen” after receiving money, labelling it as ungrateful and an “inheritance mentality.”
He said, “I have one question. Why are people very ungrateful?
“You do somebody a favour by sending him or her money, and the person receives it and sends you a text with ‘seen.”
The actor further blamed such a response as “inheritance mentality,” where people expect help as a right, not a courtesy.
“Seen? Come on! You think it’s your right? That’s an inheritance mentality; people are like this, and it doesn’t show that you are grateful,” he added.
Kanayo encouraged people to express thanks, claiming that it motivates the donor to do more.
He said, “Look, gratitude unspoken is ingratitude spoken. It’s not your right; learn to be grateful for whatever somebody does for you.
“That way, the person will be encouraged to do more. Stop being selfish; be grateful nobody owes you anything.”

The actor emphasised that gratitude is essential and encouraged individuals to express their appreciation when someone does them a favour.
He believes that a simple “thank you” or acknowledgement can go a long way in encouraging the giver to continue showing kindness.
