The Uyui District Council in Tanzania has today been privileged to receive two ambulances which are part of the government’s effort to improve on the health services delivery in the country as informed to the House yesterday.
The revelation was brought by the Deputy Minister in the President’s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government Authorities) Zainab Katimba, who stated that the Uyui DC received the vehicles in February this year.
“These ambulances have been allocated to Uyui District Hospital and Igalula Health Centre,” Ms Katimba said, adding that the ambulances are used in the cascaded system health institutions like Loya, Tura, Upuge, Mabama and other dispensaries which do not own ambulances will benefit.

“The government is currently finalizing the clearance and registration of these vehicles that will be disbursed to different councils across the country,” She said, stating that the State will continue to purchase the ambulances depending on the available funds.
This was in response to a question asked by Uyui legislator, Athuman Maige who questioned when the government will supply an ambulance to Uyui District Hospital.
The deputy minister was thus confident that the government will increase healthcare services by hiring more healthcare practitioners in the next fiscal year.
