Leaders from the industry, policymakers, and cloud and cybersecurity professionals met in Kampala, Uganda at the recent East Africa Cloud and Cybersecurity Roadshow. Held at Four Points by Sheraton, this was a session themed on the ever-changing organic state of cloud computing and cybersecurity.
For the very first time, the road show was held in Uganda by dx5, an Africa’s ICT engine, through BUI East Africa, an IT company which is also the main drive. The show is a series of events that is used to foster growth in technology in the East Africa region. This event showcases keynotes and virtual classes delivered by top practitioners from the whole of the East African region, giving a holistic view of the current tech tendencies and challenges.
Mosito Mpuya, in his role as General Manager for East & Southern Africa at BUI, was the main speaker. His topic was, “You’ve Been Hacked. What Next? Your Breach Response Plan.”
To elaborate, during his session, Chudasama demonstrated the actions organizations should take after a hack, allowing the stakeholder to see step by step the incident containment, investigations, and communication strategies. Participants grasped techniques of limiting damage and getting systems back in order and operation as soon as disclosure of a hack is identified.
With cybercrimes becoming more of a plague to security with the help of AI-powered technologies, defenders have to think carefully and develop stronger strategies to beat such criminals. This event also held a panel that underlined the role of organizations in highlighting the cyber threats by using the cloud’s data, whose purpose is to reveal and mitigate the AI powered cyber threat as well.

Another session was the topic on which Allan Lwala—the Cybersecurity and Forensics Lead at Xylem Networks—discussed the emerging role of cybersecurity professionals, the burning matters in the field, the most common mistakes committed by the professionals, and the problems with the next-generation cybersecurity experts.
The event followed a series that had already been held in Uganda and in the neighbouring countries, Tanzania and Rwanda, for example. The roadshow will go to Ethiopia on May 30, 2024.
