Super Eagles player Kayode Olarenwaju has filed for divorce from his estranged wife, Ezinne Dora Kayode, at an Abuja High Court.
Kayode, who plays for Turkish club Gençlerbirliği, urged a Federal Capital Territory High Court to dissolve his marriage, stating that it has broken down irretrievably.
The footballer has filed a N1 billion lawsuit against UK-based pastor Tobi Adegboyega for allegedly having an affair with his wife.
The marriage between Olarenwaju and Ezinne has been plagued by allegations of infidelity, witchcraft, and financial mismanagement.
The couple has three children together, and Olarenwaju is seeking custody of the children, citing his wife’s alleged instability and neglect.
In his cross-petition, Olarenwaju accused his estranged wife of committing adultery with the UK-based pastor and other men since their marriage in 2013. He also claimed that his estranged wife kidnapped their children, who were later rescued by Department of State Services personnel.
The footballer further alleged that his estranged wife has been collecting rent proceeds from their jointly owned properties and using the funds to finance her alleged affair with the UK-based pastor.

He also accused his estranged wife of undermining their joint business ventures and causing him emotional trauma, financial loss, and loss of goodwill.
However, he seeks an order for a decree of dissolution of the marriage, custody of the children, and an order against the UK-based pastor for the payment of N1 billion for the emotional trauma, financial loss, and loss of goodwill occasioned by the alleged adulterous relationship.
The matter is scheduled for a hearing on September 24, 2024.
