RwandAir Cargo is planning to enter Dubai and Djibouti with the help of its B738SF dedicated freighter service.
It is a part of the airline’s mission to link Africa and the world, as the company stated in the June 10 press release.
New destinations will expand RwandAir’s cargo capacity to seven and will offer their constant growth of freighter services throughout Africa and the Middle East.
Yvonne Makolo, CEO of RwandAir: “The added destinations will support efficient and reliable connections for business and provide significant opportunities for enhanced trade between Rwanda, the UAE, Djibouti, and the rest of the continent.”
According to her, RwandAir “recognizes the importance of air freight in Rwanda’s economic growth across Africa and beyond.”
“Our geographic location at the heart of Africa enables us to connect every part of the continent, and we eagerly anticipate expanding this connectivity even further.” she added.

This new addition of the Dubai World Central Airport (DWC) becomes RwandAir’s second extraction hub in the United Arab Emirates after the Sharjah.
RwandAir Cargo will also be launching a dedicated freighter service with a schedule to Djibouti via Dubai World Central and Sharjah on June 17, 2024. The flights are expected to run on a schedule that will include Monday and Wednesday each in two weeks.
Bosco Gakwaya, Director of RwandAir Cargo Services: “Our expansion to Dubai and Djibouti strengthens RwandAir Cargo’s role as a key trade facilitator on the African continent and is well aligned with the goals of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA), transforming Kigali into a regional cargo hub.”
RwandAir is a strong and large part of Rwanda’s GDP because, apart from transporting fresh produce, medical supplies, and other essential products, RwandAir helps to connect, grow and transport the diverse and growing economy of Rwanda and the African continent. The new destinations will expand their market networks and give them an opportunity to serve the new customers in the business and consumers’ segments with their cargo services.
