Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has praised President Bola Tinubu for his administration’s achievements in its first year, including the defeat of Boko Haram terrorists.
Akume made this known during a book launch in Abuja celebrating President Tinubu’s accomplishments since taking office on May 29, 2023.
The Defence Headquarters also announced that 103 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists and their families surrendered to the Nigerian military in Borno State between May 21 and May 23, 2024. This is a significant development in the fight against terrorism in the country.
The surrendered terrorists and their families, comprising 13 adult males, 29 adult females, and 61 children, surrendered to troops in various local government areas of Borno State. This is a testament to the success of the military’s operations in the region.
According to Akume, President Tinubu’s leadership has led to significant strides in infrastructure development, including the construction of roads and critical projects like the Abuja Metro Rail. This is in addition to the progress made in tackling the criminal activities of kidnappers and defeating Boko Haram terrorists.
Akume commended President Tinubu for his giant strides in the last year, stating that the federal government under his leadership has made significant progress in various areas.
He also praised the president for his efforts in infrastructural development, saying that he has built many roads across Nigeria and other critical infrastructures.
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, also praised President Tinubu for his remarkable leadership in the face of adversity. He said that the president has reset Nigeria on the path of growth and development.
Billionaire businessman Arthur Eze also commended President Tinubu for standing up to state governors in trying to reform the country’s local government system. He accused governors of cornering local government funds, thereby depriving the third tier of government of development.
The Federal Government recently sued the 36 state governors at the Supreme Court for tampering with funds released from the Federation Account for the benefit of local governments. This is a significant move in ensuring that funds are used for the intended purposes and that local governments receive the necessary support for development.
