The Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) is a regional football organisation that plays a vital role in promoting and developing football in Southern Africa. Established in 1997, COSAFA’s primary objective is to foster unity, cooperation, and development among its member associations while also enhancing the region’s football profile globally.
COSAFA’s membership comprises 14 football associations from Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Eswatini (formerly Swaziland), Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. This diverse membership enables COSAFA to promote football development, exchange ideas, and share resources across the region.
The tournament’s format ensures that each team will play a minimum of three and a maximum of five games, with adequate rest days scheduled between most pool matches to prioritise player welfare.
The pool stage will see each team compete against the others in their group, with the semifinals set for July 5. The final and third-place playoffs will follow on July 7.
Namibia will face a challenging task in Group C, with Angola being a three-time winner of the tournament and Lesotho being the runner-up in the previous edition. Seychelles will also be looking to cause an upset and make a name for themselves in the competition.
