The National Food Drug and Administration Control (NAFDAC) authorities have informed the concerned public about the existence of a confirmed counterfeit OHEAL Ampicillin and Cloxacillin capsule and its seizure in Onitsha, Anambra State by NAFDAC officers together with officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
NAFDAC in a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle said the genuine Ampicillin/Cloxacillin is an antibiotic formulated to treat bacterial infections that may affect the lungs, throat, airway, and the skin.
The agency said that the antibiotics work through the obstructing growth and thus eradicating the bacteria that cause the infections.

“Though this falsified product was identified in Onitsha, it may likely have been distributed to other parts of the country through informal markets. Consequently, it is important to identify and remove it from circulation to prevent harm to patients,” NAFDAC said.
In the same regard, NAFDAC urges importers, distributors, retailers, and healthcare providers to remain cautious and alert within the supply chain so that they do not contribute to the importation, distribution, sale, or administration or intake of fake or substandard medicinal products.
