Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu is optimistic that his team has rejuvenated and is ready to mount a strong challenge for the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title. The league resumes this weekend after a two-week hiatus, which coincided with international matches.
Before the break, the Highlanders had gone five matches without a win, including four draws and a loss. That poor run saw the team drop to number four on the log table with 22 points, six behind leader Manica Diamonds.
But Kaindu thinks the break was what his doctors would have ordered, as his side badly needed time to regroup and refocus. Now, as they gear up to face surprise package Bikita Minerals at Barbourfields on Sunday afternoon, the coach is confident that his charges will be refreshed and ready to attack the second half of the campaign like bulls coming out of a gate.
“The break came at a good time for us,” Kaindu said. “We had lost our way a bit, but the boys have had time to refresh and reset. We’re now ready to push for the title.”
Highlanders will look to take advantage of the home factor when they face one of the dark horses of the season, Bikita Minerals. A win for Bosso could see them get back into title reckoning and Kaindu is itching to see his side come out with a bang.

“The players are hungry for getting back to winning ways and we’re all looking forward to the match on Sunday,” Kaindu added.
As the league dynamics grow hotter by the passing day, Highlanders will be looking to stage a strong revival in the remaining matches for the title.
