In preparation for the general elections of 2026, Asuman Basalirwa, the president of the Justice Forum (JEEMA), a political party in Uganda has announced new changes in the party leadership.
In a statement, Basalirwa stated, “I hereby inform the Party Membership and the Public that by the authority entrusted to me in Article 45 (1) (1 V) of the constitution of the Justice Forum, I hereby make changes in the cabinet as follows.”
Interestingly, there are new faces in the roles announced, including Sarah Katushabe, Don Muhindo, Mac Donald, and Innocent Nahabwe. Additionally, Dr. Swaib Kaggwa Nsereko has been reinstated to his former position, following Abdulnoor Kyamundu’s term which began in 2017. Counsel Derrick Namakajjo has been relieved of his duties in the legal affairs department.
The following are the new appointments as a result of the recent shuffle: Vice President: Alex Ojok, Secretary General: Kateregga Mohamed, Deputy Secretary General: Fred Kasajja, Publicity/Spokesperson: Dr. Shuib Kaggwa, Women Affairs: Sarah Tushabe, Youth Affairs: Katushabe Moreen, Legal Affairs: Don Muhindo, Disabled Affairs: Maroof Sekabira, Research/Internal Affairs: Apollo Kasule, Agriculture: Mac Donald, Mobilisation/Chairperson Women League: Hadjah Babirye, Finance: Shiffer Nanyanzi, Education/Ethics: Aidah Mbawadde, External Relationships: Kyamundu Ssentongo, and Special Duties: Innocent Nahabwe.
Dr. Shuib Kaggwa Nsereko, the new party spokesperson, defended the recent changes, saying they were long overdue and align with the party’s goal of nurturing young leaders. He also tackled concerns about internal democracy and leadership issues within JEEMA, explaining that these changes are a natural part of the party’s growth and development.
Now that the delegates’ conference is fast approaching and new party leadership will be chosen there, attention is focused on that event. The party electioneering commission will share further information about this event at a news conference that will take place soon.
