Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has reiterated that he is not in conflict with the Nigerian federal government, despite his ongoing rift with his predecessor, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The governor spoke during the commissioning of the Aleto-Ebubu-Eteo road in Eleme area of the state yesterday.
“If we are fighting the Federal Government it’s a different matter, we are talking about the Federal Government that is giving us some support, but there’s a rat in the house that is eating the bag of garri.”
“So, you can imagine such a situation, but we have now set the Otapiapia to finish the rat.”
In recent happenings, many of the serving Commissioners in his cabinet loyal to the FCT Minister have resigned in their numbers.
One of them is Professor Chinedu Mmom who resigned as the Commissioner for Education in the state. In a Facebook page, he wrote:
“My decision might not go down well with most of you, but it is best given the prevailing circumstances. Many thanks for your understanding.”
This will be the second time Prof. Mmom will be resigning, same as the Honorable Commissioner for Housing, Gift Worlu tendered his resignation letter to the Governor earlier today.
Furthermore, other commissioners who are the former governor’s loyalists have resigned. The Honorable Commissioner for Environment, Austen Ben-Chioma, the Honorable Commissioner for Transportation, Jacobson Nbina and the Honorable Commissioner for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, Inime Aguma have resigned from their positions citing inconducive working environment.
