Gor Mahia’s stand-in coach, Michael Nam, has pledged to lead the team to victory in their remaining matches as they resume play after an international break. With the 2023–2024 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL) title already secured, Nam is determined to finish the season on a high note, targeting 75 points.
Gor Mahia’s impressive campaign saw them clinch the league title on May 18 with a convincing 3-0 win over Muhoroni Youth at the SportPesa Arena in Muranga. Despite achieving the championship with three matches to spare, Nam is driven to maintain the team’s winning momentum. He said:
“We expect to win all the remaining matches because that’s what has been our target,” Nam stated confidently. “We want to finish the season strongly and make a statement.”
The team’s next challenge comes against Sofapaka at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, a crucial match that will test their resolve. With Nam at the helm, Gor Mahia is poised to continue their dominance and make a push for the 75-point mark.
This victory propelled K’Ogalo to 67 points, placing them 11 points clear of their closest rival, Tusker, with just three games left in the season.
Despite the comfortable lead, Nam expressed a clear desire to not only finish the season on a high note but also to meet the pre-season target set by the team.
“So we have not managed to reach the target. That means we have to win the nine points to reach the target of the season,” he observed, underscoring the importance of maintaining high standards.
Next, Gor Mahia will take on Sofapaka, followed by a clash with Talanta on June 19. They will then face Bidco United on June 23 in a coronation match, marking the culmination of their successful season.
