The Ethiopian Ministry of Health has signed an accord with three institutions to produce 2,000 health centres across Ethiopia within five years.
The signatories are the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, Bonga University and the Russian Pan-African PPP Development Center.
The Russian Pan-African PPP Development Center will fund the approximately over 250 million USD needed to construct the health centres.
According to the statement of the Health State Minister Dr Dereje Dugma, the project will construct 2000 health centres within 5 years.
These centres will primarily cover maternal and child health, geriatric health, adolescent health, antenatal care, vaccinations, family planning, and reproductive health.

This will assist the efforts that need to be made to increase health service provision to the community, he said.
To him, each of the health centres will serve 2,000 to 5,000 members of the community in various aspects of health requirements.
Women and Social Affairs State Minister, Alemitu Umed said that the project could help in building the capacity of the health program aimed at the protection of mothers and children.
Accordingly, the ministry will assume the function that is expected to bring into existence the envisaged scheme, she confirmed.
Speaking in her capacity as the CEO of the Russian Pan-African PPP Development Center, Oksana Mayorova passionately explained that the intent of the project is to build capacity to protect of the healthy life of the citizens.
The president of Bonga University, Petros Woldegiorgis said that the institution has been making efforts to achieve this project.
The president noted that the signing of the agreement with various stakeholders will be done to make it actual.
The Russian Pan-African PPP Development Center has been partnering with Ethiopia for over 126 years of relation.
