In preparation for the upcoming Currie Cup campaign, the Bulls have announced the appointment of Phiwe Nomlomo as their new head coach.
Nomlomo, a former Selborne College alumnus, joined the Bulls in 2023 as the joint head of the skills hub at Loftus, bringing with him a wealth of experience from his stints with the Sharks, SA Schools A side, Border Craven Week squad, and EP Kings academy.
Nomlomo will be working alongside a talented coaching team, including Werner Kruger, Jean Tiedt, and Kennedy Tsimba. The Bulls are eager to bounce back from their URC final loss and make a strong impression in the Currie Cup, which kicks off on July 7.
The team has been boosted by the recent signings of Springbok winger Aphiwe Dyantyi and Stormers flanker Nama Xaba, who are set to make their Bulls debuts in the Currie Cup season. The former flyhalf at Loftus, Tsimba will be responsible for the backline, while the former coach at North-West University, Tiedt will focus on the defense. Kruger, who made over 100 Super Rugby appearances for the franchise, will be in charge of the forwards department.
The Bulls will begin their Currie Cup campaign with an away game against Western Province in Cape Town on July 7 at 15:00. With a strong coaching team and a talented squad, the Bulls are looking to win the competition.

Nomlomo expressed his excitement and gratitude for the opportunity, stating,
“This is more than just an honour; it is carrying the trust of the entire organisation to lead our side in a competition we value and respect because of the influence it has on rugby in our country.
“We have players who are keen to get on the field, rugby coaches who want to see them do well, and a support base who wish to see their club go all the way. This is a wonderful recipe for an exciting season ahead, he added.
With a new coach, the Bulls will be eager to get their Currie Cup campaign off to a strong start and make a push for the title.
