Zintle Mofokeng, a finalist from Big Brother Season 4, has opened up about how her ostensible confidence on stage was a facade to hide her fears over self-doubt and the judgement of others.
The 25-year-old former club hostess from the Vaal talked to the Daily Sun, saying,
“Growing up, I was quite shy and often found myself second-guessing my abilities and decisions like any other person,” she said.
She said that a supportive structure has helped her over the years.
The Vaal entertainer believes that confidence is a journey, though she only gets support from the structure and people around her. She hopes that by sharing her story, she can inspire others to work on their own confidence and self-belief.
She continues by saying she had insecurities growing up and into adulthood.
“As a child, I was often insecure about my appearance and abilities. I compared myself to others a lot, feeling that maybe I didn’t measure up to looks, intelligence or talents. This self-doubt was compounded by a fear of failure and a tendency to overthink every other situation,” she said.
She shared that many people are unaware of her transformative journey, as they only see her current confident self, but she has come to realise that confidence is a continuous process, not a fixed trait, and that it takes effort and growth to develop and maintain.

Mofokeng’s journey to confidence has not been easy, but she believes that it’s an important part of personal growth.
“Confident is not something you either have or don’t; it’s not about snapping your fingers and changing everything,” she said.
“And it’s okay to take things one step at a time and to ask for help when you need it, ” she added.
As she continues on this journey, Mofokeng hopes she can do the same for others.
“I want people to know that their own struggles are not theirs alone,” she said.
“And that provided with the right support and mindset, they can overcome anything and achieve all their dreams,” she concluded.
