The Liberian Telecommunication Authority (LTA) has cracked the whip on the two leading GSM companies in Liberia, Lonestar Cell MTN and Orange, for which they each have been fined US$300,000. These fines were as a result of what the LTA considers serious breaches and failure to provide key data that has huge revenue consequences. The World Health Organization has stated that the spread of mpox in Africa has to be combatted, as more deaths were recorded due to a mutated strain of the virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Two people were confirmed dead, while 16 people said to have survived the recent cholera outbreak that pervaded some parts of Rivers State. The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh who stated this in a press statement she released personally in Port Harcourt on Thursday explained that as at the time the address was made, there were no reports of cholera in the state.
