APM Terminals Apapa has declared its willingness to invite some secondary school students to a career seminar on the maritime business in recognition of the Children’s Day celebration through its partnership with Ocean Ambassadors Foundation (OAF).
An OAF project, Blue Talents School to Sea Program is an initiative that OAF supports through training young, school-leavers, especially females, on export procedures including processing, packaging, quality, warehousing and the overall package distribution value chain. It is anticipated that the seminar will be conducted on Thursday, 30th of May.
According to APM Terminals Nigeria Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Frederik Klinke, such capability makes it crucial for the terminal to associate with the OAF to provide training for future generations of skilled maritime professionals in the nation.
“The FG has identified the maritime sector as a pivotal area of focus. Its development of a National Policy on Marine and Blue Economy is a sign of its commitment to create an enabling environment that supports and promotes the growth of the sector.” He said.
He said that would enhance co-operation between all the players in the industry to foster development of the maritime sector, hence resulting in a spirited economy for the country.
APM Terminals Apapa terminal manager Steen Knudsen explained that the partnership is a way of contributing to the society that housed the company.
He said, “This is just one of the many ways in which we give back. We have continuously engaged in several CSR projects at all levels of government; the Apapa community, state government and the country at large.”
Speaking on the essence of the program for APM Terminals Apapa, the Senior People Business Partner, Omolara Olatunbosun said it is of particular benefit to the terminal because it is more about developing female maritime professionals.
