British-Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua is set to face Daniel Dubois in a match for the IBF heavyweight belt. The fight is scheduled to take place on September 21 at Wembley Stadium.
Joshua, a two-time former heavyweight champion, is seeking to reclaim a version of the world title for the first time in nearly three years. His last reign ended with a loss to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021, followed by a rematch loss the following year.
Dubois, on the other hand, is a rising star in the boxing world. His recent victory over Filip Hrgovic earned him the IBF ‘interim’ belt and a shot at the title against Joshua. He is also known for his aggressive fighting style and devastating knockout power.
Similarly, the IBF heavyweight belt, vacated by Usyk, is up for grabs, and both boxers are eager to claim it. Usyk, who currently holds the WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF titles, had been facing pressure to defend his belt against mandatory challenger Hrgovic. However, Dubois’s victory over Hrgovic changed the landscape, paving the way for the Joshua-Dubois showdown.
