Angolan President João Lourenço arrived in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on Wednesday for an official visit, at the invitation of President Alassane Ouattara. On Thursday, the two leaders met at the Presidential Palace, where they discussed ways to boost bilateral cooperation between their nations.
President Lourenço was received with military honors upon his arrival at the palace, followed by a private meeting with President Ouattara. The two leaders are expected to witness the signing of several instruments aimed at establishing a new framework for mutual cooperation. As part of the visit, President Lourenço will be honored with the title of honorary citizen of Abidjan, and will receive the parchment and key symbolizing this title.

The Angola/Côte d’Ivoire Business Forum, scheduled for Friday, will bring together businessmen from both nations to explore areas of cooperation. President Lourenço will also visit the Cemol-ci factory, which produces chocolate and confectionery, before departing Abidjan on Friday.
Côte d’Ivoire, located in Central Africa, is the largest economy in the West African Economic and Monetary Union, accounting for 40% of the union’s total GDP. The country is also the fourth largest exporter of general goods in sub-Saharan Africa and the world’s largest cocoa exporter. The visit aims to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Angola and Côte d’Ivoire, fostering economic growth and cooperation between the two nations.
