The Algeria national football team has catapulted to the top of its World Cup qualifying group after emerging 2-1 winners against Uganda in a cracker game played at the Namboole Stadium.
In the match held at Namboole Stadium, the Desert Foxes won 2-1 against Uganda to claim the summit of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
This match started as early as expected, with Uganda Cranes on a sweet note as Travis Mutyaba put the home side in joyous moments after successfully scoring in the 9th minute. During the first half, the Ugandan team continued to dominate by applying much pressure to the Algerian side, thereby lagging behind.
Still, the Algerian team tried to level the score, and they equalised only in the first minute of the second half when Houssem Aouar scored the goal. The Desert Foxes came on strongly to look for more goals while the Cranes on the other side tried hard to equalise the match, but all in vain, until the match was finally won by Algeria when Saïd Benrahma scored the exercise-in-chasing own goal in the 58th minute.
Houdas goal in the 70th minute of the match ensured that this win puts Algeria at the summit of Group G, accumulating nine points. Coming behind this is Mozambique with nine points; third is Botswana; and fourth are Guinea and Uganda, each with six points.

This win was a major boost to Algeria in their pursuit of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
