Vegetable cooking oil brand Power Oil has partnered with the Kanu Heart Foundation (KHF) in a move aimed at saving more lives through open-heart surgeries.
The partnership, announced by KHF founder Kanu Nwankwo, is part of the “Together We Can Save A Heart” campaign, which aligns with Power Oil’s vision of promoting heart health.
Kanu Nwankwo highlighted the challenges faced by Nigerians in accessing healthcare, including limited hospitals, medical tourism, and high exchange rates. He expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, encouraging consumers to support the foundation by purchasing Power Oil products. He states that a portion of the proceeds from every Power Oil bottle sold will go towards supporting KHF’s open-heart surgery programme.
Moving on, he said Power Oil had a vision of promoting heart health, which aligned perfectly with the KHF mission to help people with heart problems.
According to Kanu, Nigeria needs more hospitals that conduct open-heart surgeries, adding that over 200 patients were on the KHF waiting list.
“Having more hospitals in Nigeria would significantly help,” the famed international footballer said.
During the MoU ceremony, Kanu emphasised his foundation’s accomplishments, which included nearly 667 heart operations.
Tolaram Group, the makers of Power Oil, as represented by Group Corporate Communications and Event Manager Temitope Ashiwaju, indicated that their perception of the foundation’s honesty motivated them to support its efforts.
“The Kanu Heart Foundation’s integrity and impact over the years have been impressive. We decided that a portion of every Power Oil bottle sold will go towards supporting KHF, ensuring that people with heart conditions receive the necessary care,” Temitope explained.
