In a bid to promote male health, the North West Department of Health has scheduled Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) services for the winter school holidays.
The province has considered the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District that is where the intensified programme has been pinpointed.
Based on the information provided by the provincial department, the goal is to build the capacity of shortage and satisfy the remaining ninety percent of clients within winter.
Dr KK District family physician, Dr Lesley Mahole said that the district will have a team of physicians to ensure that no clients will be left behind due to the increased activity in all the sub-districts during this season.
To manage this problem, Mahole continued to explain that after the district has realized the problem, an organized team of physicians would be provided for each sub-district.
“After identifying the need, the district will put together a team of physicians for each sub-district to deal with the influx,” Mahole added.
This is being implemented through collaboration with a non-governmental organization known as Right to Care, which has a contractual agreement with the department regarding the provision of the VMMC service.

As for the other personal communications, Mahole encouraged those leaders of traditional initiation schools, to prevent and control certain pre-existing illnesses that they might have, that initiates must be required to undergo tests for different diseases before as well as after initiation.
He confirmed that there are no objections for the department, which is concerned with the wellbeing of initiates and which would like to filter initiates without disturbing the traditional processes.
The VMMC main campaign will take place at the following venues:
Tshepong Hospital – Matlosana Sub District – 2 July 2024.
JB Marks Sub District, JB Marks CHC, 3 July 2024.
Maquassi Hills Sub District – Bophelo Clinic – 4 July 2024.
In addition to the mentioned schedule, all facilities in the district can be visited each day of the week to take appointments and consent for parents willing to use the service.
