The Lagos State Government has stated that the figures of cholera incidences stand at 401 and pointed out that the areas most affected are Lagos Island, Kosofe, and Eti Osa LGAs.
The deaths have also been upped to 21, up from the previous reported 15 deaths.
The Special Adviser on Health to the Lagos State Governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Kemi Ogunyemi, disclosed this on Thursday while briefing the media on the progress made in the outbreak after a meeting with members of the Lagos State Public Health Emergency Operations Centre (PHEOC).
As expected due to the recent celebration of Ileya that fuelled a large congregation of people, Ogunyemi said that suspected cases are on the decreasing trend in all the LGAs especially in the affected LGAs due to the measures taken by the state government and its surveillance activities.

The Special Adviser also said that the Lagos state government, through the Ministry of Health and other sister agencies, is closely observing the situation and rolling out as planned the programmes and activities to contain the virus.
“The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the State Ministry of Environment and its agency, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), continues to collect samples of water sources, food, and beverages to identify the source of contamination. We have also intensified our surveillance activities in communities, particularly in affected local government areas to address the situation head-on.”
