Telecom Namibia and Huawei Technologies Namibia formally sealed their five-year mutually beneficial strategic partnership on Tuesday.
The purpose is to transform the mobile broadband network for Telecom Namibia as well as connectivity coverage across Namibia. It has become clear that telecom Namibia, the larger shareholder in TN mobile, has plans to invest in the modernization of the network. New mobile base stations will be established, and the existing ones will be improved.
Huawei is also expected to provide Telecom Namibia conventional narrowband mobile radio access equipment to enhance Telecom Namibia’s capacity and coverage. The use of 4G, 4.5G, and 5G technology will help in availing fast and efficient Mobile Broadband services.

Telecom Namibia CEO, Stanley Shanapinda, states: “As a committed provider of reliable and high-speed mobile services nationwide, we are excited to join forces with Huawei to bring transformative solutions to our customers. This collaboration underscores our dedication to delivering unparalleled mobile connectivity and bridging the digital divide in communities across our country.”
Huawei Namibia’s managing director Michael Zhang says they are privileged and accommodated to be the company’s partner for this phase of transformation.
This means that, through the use of the Huawei acquired equipment, the rate of transfer of data and quality of connectivity will improve significantly. Telecom Namibia has proposed to offer enhanced services to the urban as well as the rural market.
