However, an unexpected victory was recorded in the Nation Classic Golf Series when Robin Magrer of Kericho triumphed during the competition held at the Nyahururu Country Club course. Magrer stated that he played the golf set with a handicap of 27, and in addition, he scored 46 points to be the overall champion.
Its victory at the Nyahururu Course is also the first time that Magrer has triumphed at the course, which is considered to be among the hardest golf courses for even pro golfers to master due to the high altitude of the area. Magrer rises as the ultimate favourite because he is a relatively high-handicap golfer in this tournament and therefore too inconspicuous to be anticipated.
“The last time I played here, I had a rough time and I returned a poor score, so I promised myself to put my head down today and see how I play this time round. I am very happy and excited to have emerged the winner here,” said Magrer.
The other players who went to the event and performed well include the former Nyahururu Country Club captain Nderi Ndiani, who landed the First Division with 40 points. Francis Githuku also clinched similar wins in his division, as did Peter Wainaina.
This activity was facilitated by the kind sponsorship from Nation Media Group, which donated books to Kiheo Comprehensive School worth more than 200,000 shillings. It is one of the events that are organised annually as part of the Nation Classic Golf Series, which has been in existence since 1985 and is recognised as among the oldest amateur golf series in Kenya.

Magrer duly earned his victory in the tournament, and it is clear that he will become a championship-calibre player in future golfing events.
Magrer came out victorious in this year’s golf tournament, and it was a major victory for him in his golfing career. He is expected to continue giving his best in the forthcoming tournaments.
